DPIPrice (CAD)
3200$0.71
4800$0.64
7200/9600*$0.69
NOTE: Slides to Digital Prices reflect scanning of all 35mm Slides, negatives and positive film. This also includes the classic 110 film negatives. Ours is also a negatives to digital service.
An additional $ 0.20/ea applies to all formats larger than 35mm.

For individual naming and categorizing of slides/film negatives OUTSIDE of the procedure of normal scanning in sequential number- an additional $0.13/ea applies to each picture.

Due to the length of time involved in this additional process and the increasingly large volumes of slides to photos that have been processed over the last year, we look forward to discussing your preferences and particularly your timeline before we proceed with processing your digitize slides service order.

We sincerely regret that we can no longer be responsible for, nor be further held to rushed timelines for orders of slides/negatives/photos in excess of 500+ as there are often two or more orders being processed at a single time. With respect, the necessary time will be taken to do each job well. Many thanks for your understanding and we look forward to serving you!

*Due to the number of requests for higher resolution, we are now also offering the option of scanning negatives/slides at 7200 dpi or 9600 dpi. Although a higher resolution, this option is mainly only necessary for artifacts or making ‘poster-size’ printouts of 35mm slides/negatives when transferring slides to digital.

Both resolutions are the same price, but this option WILL take more time to complete. Please note that the end file sizes are extremely large- A scanned 35mm negative finalized, post-processed and scanned at 7200 dpi is around 80 MB in size and has a general resolution of 9950 X 6290. Minimum compression is used to preserve as much quality as possible when converting slides to digital images, hence the larger file sizes.

When images are scanned at 7200/9600 dpi, ALL images will be scaled down from their original high resolution to a MAXIMUM of 10,500 pixels per side unless otherwise requested on submitting the order. This is due to previous orders where an image is unable to be opened due to the size of the image and the amount of system resources of the computer. This slightly lower resolution will ensure usability on any computer with any amount of system memory and yet will STILL give a crisp print-out of an 8 X 10 photo or larger. A slide/negative at 7200 dpi can have a maximum resolution of 15,000 pixels per side, 9600 dpi will increase to 20,000 pixels per side. Editing ‘raw’ (unchanged and uncompressed) scanned images at 7200/9600 dpi will put an EXTREMELY high demand on your computer’s system memory and processor. For any further questions or comments, we’re here to help in any way!

Photo Restoration Included With Our Convert Slides to Digital Service.

Photo restoration is automatically added to all photos/slides in slideshows. A minimum of $40.00 applies, but the considerable difference will be seen in the end results as much time and care is spent manually editing each single photo to bring the best back from the photos, whether they may be damaged by color-blurring over the years (either going all red, green or blue or the color has faded completely). Other corrections include photos that are badly faded and/or yellowed or if a photo has received stains or cracks over the years.

Free Automated Color, Contrast, Sharpening of Pictures Included With Converting Slides to Digital

Why choose us over the other places that will scan your slides to digital?

We include free automated color/contrast adjustment, as well as manual rotation of each photo. A lot of other companies that convert slides to digital will charge extra for that when they convert slides to digital in Canada.

We will also place your scanned slides/negatives in custom folders if you package your order according to our packaging guidelines.

As each of our processes are completely supervised and the majority thereof is done manually, any labels/annotations printed on the individual slides in years past will also be labeled accordingly to the finished scanned products when converting slides to digital.

Although ALL slides/negatives in a customer’s order are scanned and completed when converting slides to digital images, it is our policy that we WILL NOT charge the customer for any slides that we personally feel are severely deteriorated from time or years past. This includes blurred pictures where the objects/people are not quite discernible, faded slides, etc.

What is the process for converting 35mm slides to digital?

The process involves cleaning each slide to remove dust and debris, followed by scanning them using professional-grade equipment to capture high-resolution digital images. The digital images are then color-corrected and enhanced to restore original quality.

What size is a 35mm slide?

A 35mm slide is a photographic film format, with the image area of each frame measuring 24mm by 36mm. These slides were widely used for capturing high-resolution images suitable for projection.

The term “35mm” refers to the width of the film strip. To create a 35mm slide, an image is captured on a slide film, which is then developed and mounted in a slide frame, making it ready for projection. This format was popular for its ability to produce detailed, vibrant images, making it a favorite among professional photographers and photography enthusiasts alike. For scanning, a specialized slide scanner is recommended to digitize these slides effectively, maintaining their quality.

How to scan a 35mm slide?

Scanning a 35mm slide requires a scanner with a slide adapter or a dedicated film scanner. Clean the slide to remove dust, select a resolution (typically between 2400 to 3200 DPI for high-quality reproductions), and scan the slide. Adjustments can be made post-scan for color correction and dust removal.

How do I prepare my 35mm slides for scanning?

Ensure your slides are free from dust and are not stuck together. If possible, sort them in the order you would like them digitized. It’s also helpful to remove them from carousels or frames if you’re comfortable doing so.

What formats can I receive my digitized slides in?

Commonly, digitized slides are provided in JPEG format for easy viewing, sharing, and printing. However, formats like TIFF can be requested for archival quality. The digital files are typically delivered via cloud storage, USB drives, or DVDs, depending on your preference.

What are the dimensions of a 35mm slide?

The image area of a 35mm slide is typically 24mm x 36mm. The slides are mounted in 2-inch square frames, but the actual film size within that frame adheres to the 35mm standard.
