A few months back (having retired) I had on my bucket list to get my many yrs of slides, tapes, 8mm movies in some sort of order. I had the only tapes available of my Dear Mothers piano playing in 1974 and 1989, 8mm family , slides etc. My son checked for me and found Recapture Your Memories (Nigel Robertson Duncan) I met with Nigel on a couple of occasions with the tapes , slides, 8mm family movies etc and found Nigel to be extremely professional, very accommodating and above all his attention to detail did not go unnoticed. Some of the conversion of tapes, music were about 50 yrs old. Needless to say we are thrilled with Nigel’s work. When we retired we considered what to do with all our “stuff” as we moved in to a smaller place.

As we raised our children, we faithfully documented first their growth and than their children’s births and growth. We had 13 carousels of 100 slides.

Even by culling out everything that didn’t have a loved one in it, we still had more than 600.

Nigel was recommended to us by a good friend, and we were so happy not only with his work, but his pricing, that we have recommended him to others.

It is amazing to be able to have the grandkids sit and laugh at their father’s antics as a baby.

It was indeed a pleasure to work with Nigel on converting our old 8 mm film to digital. Much of material was from a stint living in Zambia when our kids were little and it held a lot of good memories. Like most people, putting up a screen and dragging out a noisy projector just wasn’t on our radar anymore. I have dreams of getting these pieces of history into a presentation for the family but haven’t got that far. I do feel that the images are safe on two different hard drives. He also digitized a large number of cassettes that we had made during that three years describing our Zambia experience for my mom and dad back in Ontario. Hearing the kids Zambian accents from my computer is very easy and quite fun.

Nigel was very fair in his pricing. In fact, I had to pay him extra because I felt he wasn’t charging enough! He was prompt, more than amenable about shipping the finished goods back to us and so very pleasant to chat with.

All in all, I think he rates a 10 out of 10!

Recapture Your Memories has done a great job converting old media types into a digital format for our Archives. Over the last few years, they have completed transfers of over 130 VHS video tapes, as well as many dozen audio tapes and MiniDV video tapes. All work is done quickly and labeled just the way we requested. The quality is great. I have recommended RYM to many friends.

I can assure you as a professional and service oriented person that not only did Nigel exceed my expectations with the final outcome of product all the extra lengths he went to ensure my satisfaction was quite impressive.

I had certain pics in certain boxes that came from specific relatives; he was trusted and succeeded in keeping those separations. He also removed photo’s from old school photo albums carefully, completed the scans and relayed the page before going to the next page until the book was complete.

All in all he did more than 8 rubbermaids (and loose boxes) of my entire family history. I opted to have him add the inscriptions written on the back of some photo’s at a small additional charge, which was well worth it!

In an organized fashion he puts all files on disc with his company logo on the sleeve. I quite seriously could not have been more impressed with Nigel’s service. Especially when I conveyed to him that some of my family was not comfortable with the photo’s even leaving their house let alone be left with a stranger. It is a far better service than one company who advertises on the internet from Toronto (I could not put our legacy on a plane knowing it could get lost), Nigel deserves your business and your family deserves his care and attention.
